Scott Camazine is a biologist who has been fascinated with the natural world since he was a child. He is the author of The Naturalist's Year and Velvet Mites and Silken Webs, and co-author of Self-Organization in Biological Systems. He was a recipient of a 1987 BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. He received his B.S. and M.D degrees from Harvard, and a Ph.D. from Cornell on the topic of social organization of honey bees. In addition to photography, especially computer enhanced medical images, he works as an emergency room doctor. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors with his wife and two children, photographing nature and observing the local flora and fauna.
