Born in North Carolina, USA. and raised in New York, Karen lives and works in New York City as a full-time freelance artist with her husband, daughter and cat.

She holds a cum laude B.F.A. degree from Maryland Institute College of Art with a multiple major in Fine Art and Illustration. With more than 10 years of experience as a silkscreen print artist for the New York Garment center, Karen also does art and illustration for many other projects, including greeting cards, gift bags, magazine & brochure covers, children's books and spot illustration, art posters and prints.
