My interest in serious photography started in 1986 at the age of 40 when I traveled to East Africa for a safari and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,370 feet). On my return I turned my adventure into a video complete with slides, poetry, and music.
Since then I have traveled extensively: been around the world twice, studied Chinese at the Beijing Language Institute, climbed mountains on every continent except Antarctica. During all these experiences and many more I have taken thousands of photos and continue to do so, spending at least two months a year abroad. I use my slides for university courses on global issues, travel articles, travel talks, and am currently using my photographs on a cable TV program in Denver, CO USA called Cultures of Other Lands.
