While Don's full time job is an operating engineer, he spends as much time as possible helping the animals at the Treehouse Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Brighton, Illinois, USA.

The volunteers at the rehabilitation center care for animals that have been wounded or otherwise harmed. Don sells his photographs of the animals and donates a portion of the revenues to the center.
